Hello! South Shore - Kid's Edition

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

There's no shortage of things for kids and families to do in this great region. Here's a list of some of the staff's favorite places for you to check out this summer.

Rainy day? Stop into Kingston Collection for non-stop fun for the whole family.

Check out Billy Beez indoor play park, Maziply's toy store, Zoo Rides (for the littles) & Laser Tag (for the big kids) or take a leap and check out Sky Zone Trampoline Park. More great indoor finds include Off the Wall Kidz in Carver (an indoor play park), Ryan's on Plymouth's waterfront (for arcade games) and South Shore Pottery Shop for all the art loving kids out there (check out there upcoming workshops and events).

Looking for some outdoor fun? Check out Treetop Adventures (200 New Boston Drive, Can

ton), Marshfield Skate Park (934 Webster St, Marshfield), Starland Sportsplex for mini-golf, batting cages, go-karting, arcade games and more, Pine Meadow Mini Golf in Weymouth, Edaville in Carver to explore this historic family amusement park. Head over to Union Point to explore the runways, or better yet take your bikes or a kite! Catch a Drive-In movie at Moonrise Cinemas (Plymouth) or at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. Spend time at the South Shore Natural Science Center to learn more about the regions natural environment or head to Weir River Farm for their Family Chores Days to help with the morning farm work.

Playgrounds galore... We know a good playground is a must! Check out Hartstuff Park (114 Hingham Street, Rockland) - offers playground for all ages, a bbq cooking area and full 18-hole frisbee golf course; Gaffield Park (68 River Street, Norwell); Alden Street Playground right next to the Duxbury Free Library; and Marshfield Playground in Webster Square next to the Ocean Village Bookstore (run by Road to Responsibility - a must stop too!). Last but not least, check out Weston Park & Playground next to the new Tuft's Library in Weymouth Landing.

Beat the summer heat! Check out Peterson Splash Pad @ Watson Park (Braintree), Splash pad @ Kincaid Park in Quincy, Nelson Park Splash Pad or Island Grove Park sand-bottom swimming hole, watching the ducks at the Fulling Mill Brook in Hingham.

Who wants Ice Cream? We all know that's a summer staple and the South Shore has so many wonderful spots to grab a cone or scoop. Put these on your list of spots to check out and make it a goal to hit all of them before the summer's over!

Hornstra Farms (Norwell), Peaceful Meadows (Whitman), Dairy Twist (Pembroke), Beach House (Hingham), Nonna's (Norwell, Hingham, Scituate), Magoo's (Rockland), JJ's (Cohasset), B's Homemade, Lil' Dukes Ice Cream (Hanover), Cream (Abington), Foley's Ice Cream Shoppe (Braintree).
